On Friday I listened to a podcast on the way home from work. Two phrases have stuck in my head ever since. "Be in the mix" and "Run towards your goal". Both emphasize the importance of being active.
Take athletes for example. They prepare for their competition. Every effort they make is aimed at being better than yesterday. They measure what they do. They use the documentation of their personal data to improve their performance. They keep moving forward toward their goal and stay in the mix.
This is exciting and easy to copy. Just stay active, move toward your goal, create an action plan, stick to it, measure what you do every day, reflect on what works, get rid of what doesn't, or tweak it so it does. Hire a coach to improve your skills. Most importantly, stay in the mix.
Stay in the mix?
From my perspective, the mix is a conglomerate of all kinds of habits, activities and mindsets, such as clarity of purpose, setting meaningful goals, being in action, continuously improving what we do, adding new ideas, meditating, envisioning, actively seeking inspiration, resilience and perseverance, focus and discipline, effective time management, adapting, celebrating achieved milestones, and asking for and supporting support.
The most important part of staying in the mix and running towards your goal is being active. Only through activity will we reach our goal. Is achieving enough or do you want to strive for more? Do you want to be excellent or the best at what you do?
I like to improve what I'm doing. Getting better step by step. Doing this is fun, it is like an adventure for me. I'm entering new territory. And the best part is that I get to share what I learn. Solutions to problems. For me, being in the mix means feeling alive, living my purpose and growing into the future.
Stay inspired, stay positive and let's make a difference!
