Authentic Happiness
If there was nothing else to do, I would have a drink and watch the kittens play. 3 kittens came into my life 11 weeks ago. They explore everything. They are curious. Slowly, very slowly and then fast.
They give their all when it comes to speed and devotion. Sometimes they forget that the door is in their way when they cut the corner too much. BOING! It irritates them. "Huh, was that there before?" I imagine the kitten thinking.
The irritation lasts only 2 seconds, then they run again. They pick up the pace, dig their claws into my carpet and run as fast as they can. Whenever I open their door of opportunity (= the rest of my apartment), they follow their dream. They play hide and seek, jump, play catch me if you can, sniff, taste, cuddle, and more.
They are present in every moment.
Suddenly, fatigue creeps in. The kittens slow down, find a place to snuggle up, and slowly, very slowly, close their eyes. They often try to stay awake. There's so much more to explore, to do, or places to go. Then their eyes close. These kittens sleep for a while. They rest. Because they know that when the door of opportunity opens, they are ready and they are there!
As I sit at my desk and think about the kittens, I wonder, when do I wake up with this intense curiosity? When am I fully alive and pursuing my dreams at full speed?
Authentic Happiness II
I remember that I am fully alive when I travel with groups, when I speak with clients, and when I coach. I am fully alive when the sky is blue and the sun is shining. I am present when I speak to large groups, when I promote our friendship and peace projects in the Middle East and in Germany. I love sharing ideas and finding people who want to join us. I love to lead groups. I am fully alive when I write and enthusiastic when I swim. I tend to forget the time when I am meditating.
I am amazed at how long this list is. - I feel energized when I think about these actions.
How about you? When are you fully alive and pursuing your dreams at full speed? How can you and I take the kitten's style and make it work for us?
At our best we ...
- are ready for the opportunity.
- go all in when the door to opportunity opens.
- be cautious at first and then go for it with a lot of energy.
- get excited, explore, and enjoy our opportunities.
- get creative and build our projects/relationships one step at a time.
- recognize when we need to rest.
- take the rest we need.
- get back in the game when we are re-energized.
Sounds easy.
The hard part is making the decision and following through.
Let's be well-prepared and jump right into action!
