126 | Improving Daily: Commitments to Overcoming Challenges

What I do each day brings me closer to my goal or drives me further away.

John C Maxwell

Every day I take one step closer to my next milestone. One of my next milestones is an online coaching program to help overcome obstacles on the path to our goals. It is designed to show what each of us can do to reach our goals without major detours.

We've talked at various meetings about how the discipline we need to get our tasks done often keeps us from achieving our big and beautiful goals. We asked ourselves what it takes to be motivated to just keep doing.

Since we kept telling ourselves that it's the every day blocks that hold us back, I did some research. I researched how successful people achieve their goals over and over again. I took a whole bunch of classes, in person and online, that dealt with similar issues, and then I tried adapted methods on myself.

It's been up and down. Often it still is an up and down.

I find that whenever I get really focused on a lot, my impact curve then hits a whole bunch of challenges. A lot of things seem to compete with my plans.

There's a saying, "Keep your eyes on the prize!" Translated, it means always be aware of your goal and focus your actions on it. My mother also taught me this about driving. Where you look, that's where you steer. This works well for me. Driving works great!

How does it work for you with your goals? What blockages do you encounter? How do you stop yourself?

John says, and he lives it for us: "Following through on commitments is essential to success." I've translated that for me like this: When I put something on my agenda, I keep my commitments by following through with my ideas and plans. It doesn't work perfectly yet, but I practice following through on my plans.

After a period of time, I reflect on what I've accomplished and why. Then I adjust my plan for the next week and try to do my best. I use the Growth Day app to do this. The app asks me questions that I can answer quickly. The recurring questions allow me to derive results that can be compared. They show potential for growth. Try the Growth Day app. It's fun for me!

I notice that I am getting better and better.

I wish you the same, keep getting better!
