Decide. Replace. Improve!

Do you have bad habits? Would you like to get rid of them but don’t know how to? Many of us believe that the longer we have a habit, the harder it is to break it. But this sentence is just a thought. It is not a fact.

Take these 2 steps:

  1. Simply decide that you want to change it now.
  2. Then replace it with a better habit.

Make sure, you do not rethink your decision and stick to your new habit.

I had the bad habit of putting me down when something didn’t work out well. Every time something went wrong I told myself „I’m so stupid!“.

After listening to a a TED talk on changing habits I decided to change mine aswell. I replaced „I’m so stupid!“ with „I can do better than that!“.

I love that sentence! It is a motivator. I motivate myself to accept failing as part of the process of getting better.

To help me with replacing my old habit I began to wear a rubber wristband. Everytime I caught myself with the old habit I pulled the wristband back and let it snap. This interrupt helped me to anchor in my new sentence „I can do better than that!“.

And yes, I can do better. I can do better in every moment. You can do that too. You just need to make the choice.

What would you like to change now?
